Worst Performing Industries For August 4, 2016


The Dow fell 0.04 percent to 18,347.60, while the NASDAQ composite index gained 0.05 percent to 5,162.22. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 0.01 percent to 2,163.92.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Toy & Hobby Stores: This industry slipped 6.6 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc BBW, which fell 6.6 percent. Build-A-Bear reported a Q2 loss of $0.28 per share on revenue of $75.1 million.
  • Sporting Activities: This industry declined 2.3 percent by 11:00 am with SeaWorld Entertainment Inc SEAS moving down 13.7 percent. SeaWorld reported Q1 adjusted earnings of $0.21 per share on revenue of $371.1 million.
  • Diversified Computer Systems: This industry fell 1.2 percent by 11:00 am ET. Cray Inc. CRAY shares dropped 1.3 percent in today's trading. Cray shares have declined 8.67 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 3.37 percent in the same period.
  • Management Services: The industry dropped 1 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Cartesian Inc CRTN, which declined 5.7 percent.
