The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Home Health Care: This industry slipped 2.7 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Amedisys Inc AMED, which fell 14 percent. Amedisy reported a Q2 profit of $10.7 million on revenue of $360.7 million. Mizuho Securities downgraded Amedisys from Buy to Neutral.
  • Silver: This industry declined 1.5 percent by 11:00 am with Endeavour Silver Corp EXK moving down 4.7 percent. Endeavour Silver reported Q2 earnings of $0.01 per share on revenue of $44.5 million.
  • Home Furnishing Stores: This industry fell 1.4 percent by 11:00 am ET. Williams-Sonoma, Inc. WSM shares dropped 2.2 percent in today's trading.
  • Cigarettes: The industry dropped 1.3 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was British American Tobacco PLC (ADR) BTI, which declined 2 percent. British American Tobacco shares have surged 8.56 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 2.81 percent in the same period.
