Will Elon Musk Merge Tesla And Space X Next? No.

Is Elon Musk creating a vast empire?

Musk, the CEO and founder of Tesla Motors Inc TSLA recently announced his company will acquire SolarCity Corp SCTY. It just so happens that Musk is chairman of SolarCity's board of directors and cousins with its CEO, Lyndon Rive.

The merger of Tesla and SolarCity could be seen by some as the first steps of Musk consolidating all of his businesses into one entity. Musk is also the founder of SpaceX, a space transport services company.

At first glance, there appears to be no way a space exploration company can be merged with an electric car manufacturer and a solar panel company. But then again, who are we to question Musk's vision?

It doesn't hurt to ask Musk, and this is exactly what a Twitter user by the handle "Enisity" did. He tweeted Musk and asked, "At what point does @elonmusk merge Tesla and Space X."

Musk simply answered "never" and added "there is no product rationale for doing so."

For the time being at least, Musk will remain the CEO of an electric car manufacturer, play a senior role in a solar panel company and run a space exploration company on the side.
