Samsung fired back, the Reuters report paraphrased, that "a ruling for Apple would diminish innovation and negatively impact the economy."
In 2012, Samsung was ordered to pay Apple $930 million, but has been attempting to reduce that figure since the judgment was handed. Samsung was able to reverse damages on trademark liability, but still found the company had infringed upon iPhones patents, bringing the ruling down to $548 million.
The U.S. Department of Justice has said the case should be sent back to a lower court, but Apple insists that there is no reason the Supreme Court should allow Samsung additional arguments.
