Snapchat published
a patent
last week that suggests the company may be using Augmented Reality for their advertising. Snapchat has already been one of the pioneers of the wildly popular technology with its Lens Selfie filters that augment users faces in an endless amount of ways.

Now it appears the company is taking AR a step further. The name of the patent is "object recognition based photo filters," and seems to be intended to distinguish what people are taking photos of and then tailoring advertising to that user.

Snapchat has continued to find innovate ways to incorporate advertising on its app in a less intrusive manner than its competitors with its sponsored filters.
