Haters Can Swipe Left: Warner Bros. OKs 'Worst Tinder Date Ever'

Time Warner Inc TWX's Warner Bros. has picked up a rom-com that revolves around IAC/InterActiveCorp IAC's popular dating app Tinder. The chick flick dubbed "Worst Tinder Date Ever" was written and pitched by "Friends With Benefits" writers Keith Merryman and David A. Newman.

The movie will revolve around the story of two people in Los Angeles that fall in love over the course of a disastrous Tinder date, and was, at least in part, inspired by a few bad dates one of the Warner Bros. execs involved in the movie had in the past.

The film will be produced by Denise Di Novi and Alison Greenspan and, according to a few sources, the deal reached the "high six figures," Hollywood Reporter said.

Could Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis star this film, as they did in "Friends With Benefits"?

According to information available at this time, Tinder or IAC/InterActive don't seem to be involved in the movie.

Given the popularity and penetration of Tinder worldwide, it would come as no surprise if the movie was a hit, a la "Angry Birds," which did great in the box office when released in May.

The New Pokemon Obsession

Another app that might turn into a movie soon is Pokemon Go. Several media outlets said there are rumors about a new Pokemon film being in the works, although it's still unclear if the rights owners are game. Last week, Deadline reported, "Legendary Pictures is moving toward a deal to land the rights to make a live-action film based on the decades-old pocket monster game from Japan that has gotten a giant second wind since the release of the new app.”
