The Dow rose 0.13 percent to 18,539.66, while the NASDAQ composite index climbed 0.53 percent to 5,056.24. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 0.22 percent to 2,166.44.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Toys & Games: This industry slipped 3.5 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Hasbro, Inc. HAS, which fell 6.3 percent. Hasbro reported stronger-than-expected results for its latest quarter on Monday.
  • Computer Peripherals: This industry declined 1.2 percent by 11:00 am with Stratasys, Ltd. SSYS moving down 10 percent. Piper Jaffray downgraded Stratasys from Overweight to Neutral and lowered the price target from $32 to $24.
  • Basic Materials Wholesale: This industry fell 1.1 percent by 11:00 am ET. Armco Metals Holdings Inc AMCO shares dropped 6 percent in today's trading. Armco Metals shares have dropped 89.38 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 1.57 percent in the same period.
  • Drug Related Products: The industry dropped 1 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Perrigo Company plc PRGO, which declined 1.1 percent.
