Amazon Selects Sacramento as Tenth Fulfillment Center in California

Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN disclosed that it intends to launch its tenth fulfillment center in Sacramento, California. According to the company, the new facility, the fourth California fulfillment center Amazon has revealed within a four-month period, would add more than one thousand full-time hourly roles. Amazon said that apart from the recently disclosed fulfillment centers in north Sacramento, Tracy and Eastvale, it fulfilled customer orders at its seven Golden State facilities in Moreno Valley, Patterson, Redlands, Rialto, San Bernardino and Tracy currently. The company indicated that it manages sortation centers in Newark, as well as, San Bernardino. The online retailer's VP of North American Operations, Akash Chauhan, said, "Our ongoing expansion in California, which started just four short years ago, is the result of two things: incredible customers and an outstanding workforce in this state. Customers are seeing on a regular basis Amazon's customer obsession, innovative culture, and operational excellence – all of which is driven by the 14,000-plus Californians who work in Amazon fulfillment centers across the state. We are incredibly proud of what has been accomplished in California." The company's employees at the Sacramento fulfillment center would pick, pack, and ship smaller customer items, like books, electronics and toys. AMZN stock was down 0.48 percent on Friday.
