Nineteen-Nineties pop culture enthusiasts who missed out on last December’s brief appearance back at retail can now rejoice - Crystal Pepsi will make a triumphant, though not permanent, return to public consciousness once again.
Time.com reported Wednesday that Pepsico, Inc PEP brand marketing director, Linda Lagos, says “Few things are as hot right now...as the 1990s.” Just ask General Mills, Inc GIS, which re-released its Halloween cereals (Count Chocula, Franken Berry, etc), much to the delight of ‘80s babies everywhere.
Soda drinkers can begin marking their calendars; Crystal Pepsi will be sold in 20 ounce bottles for two months beginning August 8th. The event will be augmented by the release of a video game entitled “The Crystal Pepsi Trail”, a reference to the ubiquitous educational computer game of the same era, “The Oregon Trail.”
