According to a recent Nielsen report, in the fourth quarter of 2015, Apple Inc. AAPL iPhone users and Alphabet Inc GOOGL GOOG Android users in the United States spent an average of more than 40 hours a month using apps in their smartphones. As per the study, the average American smartphone user utilized an average of 27.1 apps per month.
In another report, app tracker SensorTower shared a look into the most popular apps in the world. As readers might expect, the tech behemoths dominated global app downloads.
Facebook Inc FB was the number one player, owning four of the five most-downloaded apps in the world for May. The other big companies in the space are, of course, Google and Twitter Inc TWTR, followed by Uber, Spotify and Netflix, Inc. NFLX.
