Macy's Inc M flagship store in New York City demand a contract by midnight or they will strike, according to ABC News. At issue are:
- Healthcare costs
Unpredictable schedules
Liberal return policies
The return policies are an area of contention because sales returns are credited against commission-dependent employees pay. The company has become more lax in their acceptance of returns as a response to the rise in online shopping. Employees at other Macy’s stores are rumored to be joining in.
Macy’s shares seemed altogether unaffected, trading up almost 2 percent at $31.92 just before Wednesday’s close.
