“If you can’t beat ‘em, eat ‘em,” seems to be Facebook, Inc FB’s position regarding messaging. The social media giant is set to swallow up traditional text messaging by making the option for old-school messaging available in the Messenger app, techcrunch reports.
Pitching the move as a boon to users seeking convenience, Facebook argues this makes it easier to maintain multiple conversations with friends who are contacting a user through both the Messenger app and their phone’s SMS messaging.
What is surely the goal, however, is that once users are maintaining all their messaging conversations within the Messenger app at all times. Users will also get to use Facebook’s stickers in all their messages.
Facebook shares were up just under 1 percent today.
