$3.5 Million Buffett Lunch Bid Ties 2012 Record

This year’s winning bid for lunch with revered investor Warren Buffett came from an anonymous bidder to the tune of $3,456,789, CNN Money reports.

This bid tied a record set in 2012 for the annual charity lunch, where eager Buffett-philes get to bid on eBay Inc EBAY for the chance to invite up to seven friends to join them for a lunch date with the Oracle of Omaha in New York.

Every year the winning bid is donated to GLIDE, a San Francisco-based charity that fights poverty. This year’s donation is almost 50 percent higher than the $2.3 million collected from a Chinese gaming company last year.
