Amazon Launches Two New Fulfillment Centers in Tracy and Eastvale

revealed Wednesday that it would unveil two fulfillment centers in Tracy and Eastvale. According to the online retailer, it would establish over 1,500 new full-time jobs. The company indicated that these new facilities would boost its California presence to nine fulfillment centers, nine million square feet of operations and about 14,000 full-time hourly associates. Amazon disclosed that it currently fulfills customer orders at its existing seven Golden State Amazon fulfillment centers located in Tracy, Patterson, Moreno Valley, Redlands, Rialto and San Bernardino. The online marketplace firm said that it also operated sortation centers in Newark and San Bernardino. The company's VP of North America operations, Akash Chauhan, commented, "We are excited to continue our rapid growth in California in order to serve customers with superfast shipping speeds and vast selection. Since we first broke ground in California four years ago, we have found a network of support from community leaders to statewide officials, a dedicated workforce and fantastic customers." He continued to say, "Amazon's continued growth in California is great news for our state," said Panorea Avdis, director of the California Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development. "With tens of thousands of employees across the state, Amazon is a major driver of both state and local economies. We are thrilled that Amazon has decided to continue to expand its operations in California." The company indicated that both facilities were approximately one million square feet in size and would each employ hundreds of full-time associates. At the Eastvale location, its associates would pick, pack and ship smaller customer items, like books, electronics and toys. The stock advanced 0.75 percent on Wednesday.
