AES To Offer Senior Notes For $500 Million

The AES Corporation AES revealed Wednesday that it plans to come out with an offering of $500 million aggregate principal amount of Senior Notes due 2026. According to the company, it plans to use the net proceeds from the offering of the Notes to redeem, as well as, repay some of its outstanding debt. That included a part of its outstanding senior unsecured floating rate notes due 2019, and for general corporate purposes. AES said that an effective shelf registration statement related to the Notes was filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission previously. The offering and sale of the Notes were being made only by means of a prospectus supplement dated May 11, 2016 and an accompanying base prospectus dated February 23, 2016 related to the offering. The company has not disclosed the date of commencement of the offering and the closing of the issue. On Tuesday, the stock traded 0.09% down.
