Southwest Airlines Promotes Cheryl Hughey To MD Culture

Southwest Airlines Co. LUV revealed that it promoted Cheryl Hughey to Managing Director Culture. The company indicated Hughey would continue to lead the Culture Services Teams responsible for recognition, appreciation, and celebration of its over 50,000 Employees.

Southwest Airlines said Hughey led the Culture Services Department for the past five years. It included supporting Culture initiatives across the system, offering guidance to its Companywide Culture Committee, and leading the charge to encourage ownership of the Southwest Culture within a continually growing Employee base.

The airline firm's EVP of Corporate Services, Jeff Lamb, said, "Our Culture has always been one of our most cherished assets as a Company, and it's all because of our People. I can't think of a better person to lead the charge to nurture and perpetuate our Culture than Cheryl."

Southwest said Hughey has demonstrated an unmistakable enthusiasm for engaging with employees apart from a passion for recognizing employees' noteworthy efforts.

Hughey has moved throughout the Company in different operational, as well as leadership positions. It included working in and leading Customer Service in DAL to overseeing the Leadership Training and Onboarding program in the People Department.

On Tuesday, the stock traded 1.55 percent lower.
