Harris Corporation HRS disclosed that it received an $88 million order to supply electronic jammers for the American Navy F/A-18 Hornet and Super Hornet aircraft. The company said jammers protect the Navy jets from sophisticated electronic threats. That included modern integrated air defence systems.

According to the company, the order was received in the third quarter of Harris' fiscal 2016. The company also clarified that under the modification to the contract awarded in July 2015 Harris would make and deliver 48 on-board electronic warfare jamming systems for the Integrated Defensive Electronic Countermeasures (IDECM) program. The company said that deliveries were expected to be completed before December 2018.

Harris Electronic Systems President Ed Zoiss said, "Naval aviators face a growing range of threats as their missions evolve and hostile actors gain access to increasingly advanced technology. Harris has helped keep aviators safe from emerging threats for more than 18 years, and we remain firmly committed to supporting their critical missions."

Shares of the company traded 0.5 percent down on Friday.
