Sylvester Stallone Vehicle Preparing To Make TV Rounds

The trend of Hollywood "A-listers" coming to TV is continuing to be a big trend in 2016, as another top tier actor is prepping a sure-to-be sought off TV series.

Oscar nominee Sylvester Stallone is working with the The Weinstein Company on an TV adaptation of "Omerta," the final novel from "The Godfather's" Mario Puzo. Acclaimed director Antoine Fuqua is reportedly attached to direct the pilot, which centers on the last great American Don and his anointed successor.

Once casting is completed the belief is a network such as Time Warner Inc TWX's HBO or Netflix, Inc. NFLX will jump in with a series commitment based on the star power attached. It's not uncommon for projects with this level of talent to form organically and then present themselves to the industry.

Kurt Russell, Kate Hudson and Mel Gibson recently announced a similar move as they eye a home for the TV adaptation of the book "Barbary Coast."
