Norway News Outlet Claims Tesla Has A Cash Problem; Stock Unaffected

Tesla Motors Inc TSLA may have a cash problem in an overseas market, at least according to a report by News In English, a Norway-based English-language news publication.

The report cited Bilnytt.no, a Norwegian automobile news website which claimed Tesla has received 240 payment demands from creditors in Norway. A local credit rating agency, Bisnode, slapped Tesla's credit rating with its worst possible rating and cautioned its suppliers against extending credit.

The report quoted Tesla's spokesperson in Norway, Even Sandvold Roland, as saying he is unaware of any history of payment problems. He did say, "There have been some challenges in connection with the system that takes care of suppliers."

Roland also discussed its poor credit rating. The spokesperson was quoted as saying, "we understand that delayed payments are inconvenient for our suppliers, but we will resolve this as soon as possible."

Shares of Tesla were trading lower by less than 1 percent mid-Wednesday.
