Amazon To Launch Fresh Pickup Location In California State University

Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN disclosed a deal with California State University, Long Beach, to unveil its Amazon@TheBeach. According to the company, it would be a staffed pickup location at the University Bookstore on the CSULB campus. The online retailer said that the brand would offer the campus community a convenient location to pick up, as well as, return the orders that included everything that the customer needs on day-today essentials and technology. Amazon said that it would open the concept in Fall season in the current year, and would have about 2,500-square-foot space. Moreover, the company indicated that its Student and Prime members would be eligible to get Free Same-Day Pickup for orders placed before noon and free one-day pickup for orders placed before 10 p.m. The online retailer has opened staffed pickup locations since 2015 at different universities. That included Purdue University, University of Massachusetts Amherst, and University of California, Berkeley, and in the college communities of University of California, Santa Barbara, and University of Cincinnati. Amazon Student Programs Director, Ripley MacDonald, said that "Amazon@TheBeach will offer students a pickup location centrally located on campus to easily get their merchandise ordered through Amazon. We are thrilled to offer the CSULB community more opportunities to save on their overall costs along with great customer service, better selection and convenience." On Wednesday, shares of the company traded 0.3% down.
