Did Audi Obtain The First Tesla Model X Vehicle In Europe?

Tesla Motors Inc TSLA's new SUV, the Model X, likely began delivering units to U.S. customers in December. A new report from Clean Technica is now suggesting Tesla began shipping Model X units to its European customers. According to Clean Technica, a cleantech-focused news and analysis site, the first Model X was spotted in Germany in late January. The report added that the SUV's license plate indicates it is registered in the city of Ingolstadt which also happens to house Audi's headquarters. Clean Technica added that the Model X was likely obtained by Audi to study the SUV as the manufacturer is working on its own all-electric SUV. "The fact that Audi seems to have managed to become the first European Model X owner might say something about the level of attention the company is paying to Tesla," Clean Technica stated. Finally, the report added that a second Model X was spotted in the Netherlands on February 19 and a video has been uploaded to YouTube. The vehicle was spotted near Tesla's assemblage factory in Tilburg which may suggest the vehicle is owned by Tesla itself. Shares of Tesla were trading lower by more than 3 percent at $171.35 Wednesday morning.
