GoLIVE: GoPro Partners Up With Twitter's Periscope And It's Boosting Shares

GoPro Inc GPRO and Twitter Inc TWTR stocks have been beaten down in recent months, but the tech companies have just partnered up for a new way to stream.

Last year, Twitter released Periscope, a camera app that users can open and follow along with in real-time. With GoLIVE, the companies have combined usage for both products.

On Tuesday, GoPro's website said, "Much like a production switchboard, you can use your Periscope interface to flip between the two different camera angles, so even if your broadcast is lacking that heart-pounding action only GoPro can capture, you can still set up a two-camera shot for more dynamic story telling in real time. And yes, your GoPro will still record locally on the micro SD card even while broadcasting through Periscope."

Shares of both companies were trading higher by about 2 percent in Tuesday's pre-market session.

In a Medium post, the Periscope team wrote how it works:

• Connect to your GoPro's WiFi, making sure it's on video mode.
• Open Periscope on your iPhone & tap the broadcast button.
• The GoPro button will automatically be highlighted — so give your broadcast a title and go live.

"GoPro enables people to capture and share their experiences in the most immersive way possible, and the integration with Periscope provides GoPro users with a great, real-time platform to share their content," said Tony Bates, President of GoPro.

Broadcast functionality is currently only available on iOS, but users will be able to view GoPro broadcasts from any platform. It is compatible with <b>Apple Inc.</b> AAPL's iPhone 5s, 6 and 6+ with iOS 8.2 and integration for use with GoPro HERO4 Black and Silver models
