According to NBCNews, Whole Foods Market, Inc. WFM has agreed to pay $500,000 to settle an investigation that the company was overcharging consumers for some of its prepackaged foods. NBC News, citing the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs, reported that the settlement requires Whole Foods to "adhere to standards aimed at preventing overcharging." In addition, Whole Foods is required to conduct quarterly in-store audits at all of its New York City stores. The publication added that the settlement was lower than the initial estimate of $1.5 million. Whole Foods stated that it can now "put this issue behind us so that we can continue to focus our attention on providing our New York City customers with the highest level of quality and service."
