Disney is set to launch a new streaming service in the UK which will place additional pressure on more traditional entertainment streaming providers like Netflix, Inc. NFLX

According to BBC News, Disney's new service will be titled Disney Life and feature films, music, books, and television shows that the company owns the rights to. Star Wars and Marvel related material will however be absent at launch.

Irish examiner further noted the new service will charge customers £9.99 per month and will be available on both iOS and Android devices.

The publication quoted Disney's CEO Bob Iger as saying: "Families are accessing entertainment in completely new ways but their love for Disney and our unique characters and stories remains the same. DisneyLife is a great example of our strategy to utilize technology to connect with consumers in more direct and compelling ways, something that only Disney can do."

Across the pond, Netflix and Disney have a cozy relationship. Back in April, Marvel's "Daredevil" series was the first exclusive piece of Disney content that was made available for Netflix subscribers. In 2016, the relationship between Disney and Netflix will expand to include Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, additional Marvel and Disneynature titles.
