Aetna to Sell Individual Health Plans in Kentucky

Individuals in Kentucky will have greater choice when selecting their health insurance this year following the announcement that Aetna

will enter the individual marketplace in 2016. Aetna will be selling health plans both on and off Kynect, the state's health insurance exchange. Aetna will offer Gold, Silver and two Bronze plans in Boone, Campbell, Fayette, Henry, Jefferson, Kenton, Madison, Oldham, Owen, Trimble counties. The plans are in line with Aetna's strategy to participate in marketplaces where the company can provide the greatest quality and value to consumers at a competitive price. "Aetna is committed to offering health plans that provide consumers with more choice and deliver higher quality care at an affordable price," said Brad Fischer, senior director of sales and service at Aetna. "Our decision to enter the individual marketplace in Kentucky reflects our commitment to delivering a better member experience in more locations across the country." Aetna currently operates on the public health insurance exchanges in 17 states with approximately 900,000 members as of second quarter 2015.
