Boeing's Muilenburg Sees Space, Drones And China In Company's Future

This week, Boeing Co BA CEO Dennis Muilenburg spoke about the company's future plans during a talk in Seattle.

The newly appointed leader said he believes the company's future lies in deeper connections across the globe as innovation in the aerospace sector continues to advance. Muilenburg said that in the coming years' partnerships will be essential to advancing the brand.

China

One of the biggest question marks in the aerospace industry has been China. For one, the country has stepped up efforts to make its own aircraft, and with the weakened yuan in play, many worry that U.S. companies will be at a disadvantage.

However, Boeing Chairman Jim McNerney has said that China represents no immediate risk to Boeing, as the country's manufacturers are still well behind U.S. firms when it comes to aerospace.

Muilenburg echoed that sentiment, hinting that the firm will confirm plans for wider partnership with Beijing in which Boeing will open a 737 completion and delivery center in China.

Embracing Competition

Muilenburg also said that Boeing was embracing the rapidly changing landscape of aerospace engineering as more firms enter the space.

He said that working together with new entrants will be part of Boeing's strategy going forward. He believes that collaboration when it comes to air and space travel is essential, and many took his comments about working together with smaller players to suggest that Boeing will work with Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN to develop delivery drones in the coming months.
