UBIC Obtains New Japanese Patent Related to the Application of High-Resolution Analysis for Keyword Extraction

UBIC, Inc. UBIC (TSE:2158) ("UBIC" or "the Company"), a leading provider of international litigation support and big-data analysis services, today announced that the Japan Patent Office has recently issued a Notification of Decision of Grant to the Company for a patent application related to High-Resolution Analysis. Unlike the data analysis tool previously used in UBIC's solutions, for which the fundamental processing unit for keyword searches was the document as a whole, the new data analysis tool presented by the Company can carry out keyword searches at the paragraph level with a higher level of granularity. By applying this fine-tuned analysis, users can detect more subtle differences in email data and obtain more accurate results that reflect contextual reality. The necessary procedures for patent registration have already been executed, and the patent is currently pending issuance. Patent application number: 2015-510547 Patent application filing date: May 13, 2014 This new ability to scan documents at the paragraph level allows UBIC's software to detect subtle differences across documents that previous searches might have missed. The analytical framework covered by this patent will be implemented in some of the newly released products of Lit i View®, a platform for big data analysis. "We believe that this patent is a testament to the superior innovation that underlies the highly accurate document analysis provided by UBIC," stated UBIC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Masahiro Morimoto. "In this advanced digital age, when the processing of vast volumes of data is necessary, our cutting-edge technology will open up new business frontiers, such as corporate fraud investigation and email auditing. UBIC aims to provide data analysis solutions in a broad range of new fields, including health care, intellectual property evaluation support and national security. By further honing our AI-based technologies and expanding our portfolio of intellectual properties, UBIC will continue to provide additional value-added eDiscovery services to customers worldwide."
