Shares of Facebook Inc FB, which rose 2.44 percent on Monday to close at an all-time high of $90.10, reached several other milestones as well.
- Facebook has eclipsed the $250 billion market cap level, sporting a market cap of $252.54 billion. This puts the company in a virtual dead heat with JP Morgan JPM, which has a market cap of $252.66 billion.
- Facebook is the fastest company to reach a quarter trillion market cap, taking just a little over three years from its May 2012 IPO to reach that level. Previously, Google Inc GOOG held that distinction, taking eight years to reach the $250 billion market cap level.
- Facebook is now the ninth-largest stock by market cap in the S&P 500, bigger than such stalwarts as Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. WMT, and nearly as big as The Coca Cola Co KO and Pepsico Inc. PEP combined.
Shares of Facebook have an $87.22 P/E, roughly five times the average for an S&P 500 company.
