Alibaba Group Holding Ltd BABA Tmall.com unit will sell merchandise related to the film Avengers: Age of Ultron released in China Tuesday by Walt Disney Co. DIS's Marvel Studio.
"We are pleased to be working with Disney," said Sherry Lang, a marketing director for Tmall.com.
The Avengers 2 opening in China Tuesday reportedly raked in $33.9 million and the film's worldwide take is expected to pass the $1 billion mark later this week according to Variety.
The film debuted May 2 in the U.S.Tmall will sell superhero-themed merchandise related to the film in collaboration with more than 40 brands including Audi, Lego, Ecovacs and Hasbro, the company said.
The products are available on Disney's store on Tmall.com.
The sale of allegedly counterfeit goods via Alibaba websites resurfaced last month when a U.S. trade group called the company's Taobao site "one of the biggest platforms for counterfeit goods worldwide."
