Report: Yahoo, Foursquare $900 Million 'Deal Is Done'

TechCrunch reported sources claim Yahoo! Inc. YHOO has agreed to purchase local search app Foursquare for near $900 million. According to one of the sources, the "deal is done." However, TechCrunch also reported hearing from other sources that there have not been any new talks.

Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer has acquired a number of firms during her tenure, capped by the $1.1 billion acquisition of blogging platform Tumblr. As TechCrunch notes, this is not the first time that the Yahoo-Foursquare rumor has been floated. At Foursquare's latest valuation round in February 2014, the company raised $162 million at a value more than $600 million.

During her tenure, Mayer has led Yahoo to acquire 46 companies. The company's last acquisitions, in November, were BrightRoll, an online video advertising platform, for $640 million and Cooliris, a photo viewing application, for an undisclosed sum.

After falling at the opening bell, shares of Yahoo traded at $45.57, up 0.1 percent.
