The fierce competitive environment between Apple Inc. AAPL and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd SSNLF is about to intensify even further.
SamMobile, a reliable mobile news blog, reported on Tuesday that Samsung has been working on a smartwatch that will be called Gear A and come in two variants – a standard watch with Bluetooth connectivity, and one with 3G and calling support.
The blog added that Samsung "knocked it out of the park" with its new Galaxy S6 and S6 edge mobile devices, and it wouldn't surprise anyone if its Gear A watch is a superior offering.

Meanwhile, Tech2 reported that the Samsung Watch will run on its proprietary Tizen operating software, rather than Android.
While no release date has been set for the release of Samsung's new watch, time is ticking given Apple's Watch will be available for pre-order on April 10.
