Comparison shopping websites have become a popular part of the travel industry as most travelers use sites like
Expedia EXPE
to compare the prices of flights and hotels. However
SeatGeek
is taking that model and applying it to event ticket sales, and it appears to be working.

The company
raised
$62 million worth of funding in order to continue expanding its app offering, which provides ticket sellers with a place to post their unsold tickets and gives people an easy way to find and purchase tickets to a chosen event. Unlike some of its competitors, SeatGeek won't allow private sellers to hawk tickets using its app. Instead, the company has formed partnerships with primary retailers as well as secondary sellers like Telecharge.com and Razorgator.
Expanding Rapidly
SeatGeek offers the public tickets to any event from music festivals to broadway shows to sports events; and is quickly gaining traction among smartphone users. The company's app has been downloaded over 3 million times and co-founder Jack Groetzinger said he plans to take the service international by 2016.

Setting Itself Apart
SeatGeek isn't the first company to give consumers the opportunity to bargain hunt for event tickets; Ticketmaster and Stubhub have been offering similar services for years. However SeatGeek is hoping to set itself apart by developing an easy-to-use, attractive app that customers can easily interact with. The company also boasts an "all-in pricing" scheme, meaning that all taxes and transaction fees are included in the displayed prices.
