Solar stocks were higher Tuesday and in some cases a short squeeze may have pushed prices upwards as traders covered short positions.

Overall, short positions as a percentage of each stock’s float decreased since the last two-week reporting period.

First Solar, Inc. FSLR had 11.14 percent of its float short. This was a decrease of 6.95 percent from the previous two-week reporting period.

First Solar, Inc recently traded at $56.48, up 13.78 percent.

SunPower Corporation SPWR had 19.06 percent of its float short, a 4.57 percent decrease from the prior period.

SunPower Corporation recently traded at $32.15, up 15.67 percent.

SolarCity Corp SCTY had the largest percentage of its float short among the stocks listed here, coming in at 35.72 percent. Shorts declined 4.54 percent since the prior two-week period.

SolarCity Corp also had the smallest gain by mid-day and recently traded at $54.13, up 1.88 percent.

Canadian Solar Inc. CSIQ had the lowest percent of shares short at 10.28 percent of the float. The company also had the largest decline of shorts with 28.83 percent decrease since the prior two-week period.

Canadian Solar Inc. recently traded at $30.73, up 7.92 percent.

SunEdison Inc SUNE had the second largest percentage of the float short, coming in at 32.00 percent. This was a 1.81 percent decrease since the prior reporting period.

SunEdison Inc recently traded at $23.37, up 4.05 percent.
