Digital Ally Files For Breath Analyzer Patent, Shares Move Higher

Shares of Digital Ally, Inc. DGLY were trading higher Thursday morning by more than two percent after the company filed for a patent related to a "breath analyzer, system, and computer program for authenticating, preserving, and presenting breath analysis data." According to the patent filing, the breath analyzer includes a breath receptor for receiving a breath sample from the donor, an analyzing element for determining a breath analysis result, a communications element for sending information to a device manager and a housing for securing the components in a handheld device. The filing also suggested that the invention in its current form is largely directed towards the detection of alcohol impairment by law enforcement officials, it can also be used to detect other substances including illicit substances, or even be used for workers' compensation injuries, employee screenings, and self-testing.
