A Different Kind Of Bowl Lights Up Super Bowl XLIX Sales

Sales of pizza, beer and chips are all likely to rise this weekend, as roughly 110 million people are expected to watch the Seattle Seahawks face off against the New England Patriots at Super Bowl XLIX.

This year, however, marijuana is also expected to see soaring sales as the drug’s legalization in several states makes it a popular party favor.

Seahawks Repeat

Marijuana dispensaries in Washington sate are gearing up for this weekend’s big game in anticipation of rising sales due to game-day parties.

The state’s home team is set to be the first defending Super Bowl champions since their opponents, the Patriots, in the 2000s, and fans are expected to tune-in in droves.

Fans Call For A Super Bowl

Solstice, a Seattle-based marijuana retailer, began offering its medical customers a promotion called “12th Pack,” named after the “12th Man” nickname for Seahawks fans, only to be sold out within 15 minutes of its advertisement.

The company is now working overtime to complete 12,000 pre-rolled joints to be sold before Sunday’s game. “12th Pack” joints are filled with the company’s latest line of cannabis called “Seahawks Blend.”

Football-themed pot isn’t a new concept; the Seahawks’ Super Bowl appearance last year prompted a similar venture by Green Umbrella, a Seattle delivery service.

Last year, the company introduced a new strain of marijuana called “Beast Mode O.G.” in tribute to the team’s running back Marshawn Lynch. Sales of “Beast Mode” were so popular that this year the company came out with “Beast Mode 2.0.”
