Apple, Inc. AAPL has acquired music analytics service Musicmetric, according to documents, reports Music Ally. The purchase price is said to be approximately $50m. Apple shares closed Wednesday at $109, a gain of $0.83. Hearing Renewed Unconfirmed Deal Chatter in BlackBerry Involving LG The Rumor:
Shares of BlackBerry Limited BBRY higher Wednesday, on renewed unconfirmed takeover chatter. This time the rumored buyer was Korea's LG Electronics, Inc. On January 14, Reuters reported that Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. SSNLF was offering $13.35-$15.49 per share for the Canadian handset maker. China's Lenovo Group Limited LNVGY has been rumored as a potential suitor on more than one occasion. Spokespersons for BlackBerry and LG did not respond to requests for comments. UPDATE: Late Wednesday, Canada's Financial Post reported late Wednesday, that Samsung was still interested in pursuing a deal for BlackBerry, based on a report from Evercore Partners. BlackBerry shares lost $0.10 Wednesday, closing at $9.93. AIG to Acquire Ireland's Laya Healthcare The Deal:
American International Group, Inc. AIG announced Wednesday, that it has agreed to acquire Ireland's second largest health insurance provider, Laya Healthcare. Terms were not disclosed. The deal is expected to close in H1 of 2015. AIG shares gained $0.18 Wednesday, closing at $50.83.
