Bill Ackman Discloses 18.8% Stake In Restaurant Brands

Activist investor Bill Ackman disclosed an 18.8 percent stake in Restaurant Brands International Inc. QSR Monday, sending shares up more than 4 percent in the extended session. The company, formed out of last month's $11 billion merger of Burger King Worldwide and Canadian doughnut chain Tim Hortons, changed hands recently at $38.0, up 0.53 percent. Berkshire Hathaway Inc. BRK, which partly helped finance the merger, last month disclosed a 4.2 percent stake in Restaurant Brands. Ackman held an 11.9 percent stake in Burger King prior to the merger while 3G Partners held 63.9 percent. Last month 3G disclosed a 54.7 percent stake in Restaurant Brands. Ackman's Pershing Square Capital didn't comment on the nature of its investment in Restaurant Brands. Ackman told Bloomberg last month that the company's new name suggests it may make additional acquisitions.
