US Stock Futures Edge Higher Ahead Of Jobless Claims Data

Pre-open movers US stock futures traded higher in early pre-market trade. Data on weekly jobless claims will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 18 points to 17,915.00, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index futures rose 1.50 points to 2,074.20. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index gained 7 points to 4,317.50. A Peek Into Global Markets European markets were mostly higher today, with the Spanish Ibex Index falling 0.05%, STOXX Europe 600 Index gaining 0.25%. German DAX 30 index rose 0.50%, French CAC 40 Index climbed 0.44% and London's FTSE 100 Index rose 0.06%. French unemployment rate widened to 10.4% in the third quarter, compared to 10.1% in the second quarter. In Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rose 0.94%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index climbed 1.72%, China's Shanghai Composite Index jumped 4.31% and India's Sensex gained 0.42%. Australia's trade deficit narrowed to A$1.3 billion in October, versus A$2.2 billion in September. Australian retail sales climbed 0.4% in October versus September. Broker Recommendation Analysts at Credit Suisse upgraded Procter & Gamble Company (The) PG from Neutral to Outperform. The price target for Procter & Gamble has been raised from $90 to $105.
