Potash Surges As Russian Mine Closes

Potash Corp./Saskatchewan (USA) POT surged Tuesday amid a report that Uralkali evacuated its Solikamsk-2 mine.

Bloomberg reported that the mine was in danger of flooding and opening a sinkhole.

AltaCorp analyst John Chu noted that it could take weeks or months for the situation to play out but Potash could see a gain of one million MT in sales volumes as a result.

Potash Corp led the sector's gains and closed at $35.40, up 4.76 percent.
