13F Filing From Jana Partners Shows Moves In Big Names

In a 13F filing report on Friday, activist hedge fund Jana Partners reported all positions it held as of September 30,2014. Jana Partners closed out positions in the following: Sold 200,000 shares of CBS CBS class A shares and 4,127,149 shares of CBS Class B shares. Sold 10,417,150 shares of SunEdison. SUNE Jana Partners initiated new positions in the following: Bought 975,051 shares of Advanced Micro Devices. AMD Bought 300,000 shares of Alibaba Group Holding. BABA Bought 2,765,800 shares of Amgen. AMGN Bought 8,058,007 shares of Dollar General. DG Bought 842,268 shares of McDonald's MCD in addition to 200,000 call options. Bought 7,004,977 shares of Rackspace Hosting. RAX Bought 1,284,184 shares of Valeant Pharmaceuticals. VRX Other notable moves: Jana Partners showed a one million share stake in eBay EBAY in its previous filling. Friday's report shows a stake of 13,063,122 shares in addition two over five million call options. Jana Partners also increased its stake in Hertz Global HTZ to 10,077,326 shares (in addition to nearly nine million call options) from 5,922,764 (and no options) in its prior filling. Jana Partners has publicly pressured PetSmart PETM to explore strategic actions including a sale of the company. The activist hedge fund may be putting additional pressure after disclosing 9,694,002 shares in PetSmart, compared to the 4,935,034 stake (and 4,573,700 call options) held as of the previous filing.
