Saying "It's Been Way too Long," Apple Inc. AAPL announced that the company will hold a special event on October 16.
Expectations are for the company to unveil new iPad models with fingerprint sensors, along with a larger and thinner iMac with a retina display.

It is also thought that Apple will launch a new operating system, Yosemite X, and the mobile pay system, Apple Pay. New MacBooks and MacBookAirs may also be unveiled at the event.
Shares of Apple Inc. were up 0.85 percent at $99.57.
