Ford China Auto Sales Surge 9% in August

Sales at Ford Motor Co F and its Chinese joint ventures rose 9% y/y to 77,506 vehicles in China in August. Ford's sales in China gained 25% in July and surged 17% in June. Sales at Ford in the first eight months of the year jumped 30% y/y to 717,537 vehicles. Ford sold 8,526 Mondeo hatchbacks in August, up from 4,120 vehicles in the year-ago month. The company also sold 28,305 Focus cars last month. Ford's Kuga SUV sales climbed 39%, while EcoSport subcompact SUV sales jumped 29%. “We have experienced an unprecedented period of growth over the last few years,” John Lawler, chairman and CEO for Ford China, said. Ford shares fell 1.14% to close at $17.27 yesterday.
