Vonage Reports Granting of Two New Patents

Vonage Holdings Corp. VG, a leading provider of communication services connecting consumers and businesses through cloud-connected devices worldwide, today announced the grant of two additional patents by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Vonage has been granted 12 U.S. patents in 2014 and now owns 49 U.S. patents. U.S. Pat. No. 8,804,558, "Systems and Methods for Adjusting Carrier Quality Metrics for Intrinsic Impairments," issued today, improves the ability of VoIP operators to select from among multiple telephone carriers that can terminate calls to the same telephone numbers. The patented invention enhances a VoIP operator's ability to recognize situations in which a carrier is underperforming, enabling the VoIP operator to more consistently deliver high voice quality to its customers. U.S. Pat. No. 8,799,993, "Method and Apparatus for Configuring Communication Parameters on a Wireless Device," issued August 5, 2014, enables wireless devices to automatically configure security settings based on the specific wireless access point, such as a Wi-Fi hotspot, to which they are connected.
