McDonald's MCD announced Friday morning a sales decrease of 2.5 percent in July.
U.S. sales showed a 3.2 percent decrease with Asia, Pacific and Middle East down 7.3 percent. Europe came in with a slight gain of half a percent.
Some of the July sales slack in Asia was likely due to food safety issues that have since been resolved. Asian, Pacific and Middle East markets represent approximately 10 percent of overall sales. McDonald's stated it has initiated strategies to restore customers' trust and confidence in these markets.
Shares of McDonald's are trading lower by 0.75 percent in pre-market action.
