AutoNation Retail Sales Up 21% Y/Y in September, 7% in Q3 (Zacks)

AutoNation (NYSE: AN) shares are up 1.36 percent after the company reported the most new vehicle sales since July 2006.

Total vehicle sales rose eight percent year over year to 27,484. Of the three segments tracked, luxury car sales led the way, up 17 percent. Import sales increased seven percent and domestic sales increased of six percent. Same-store sales are up seven percent year over year.

Shares of AutoNation were last trading at $54.35.
