Facebook's Oculus Acquires RakNet

Earlier today Oculus, the virtual reality company recently acquired by Facebook

, announced on its blog that it acquired RakNet, a start up game networking engine based in Costa Mesa, California. According to the blog, Oculus has open sourced RakNet under the same modified BSD license that Facebook has used for its open source projects. The blog noted that RakNet's key features include object replication, remote procedure calls, patching, secure connections, voice chat, and real-time SQL logging, and that its technology has been licensed by companies such as SOny Entertainment
