US Stock Futures Edge Higher Ahead Of Jobs Data

Pre-open movers US stock futures traded higher in early pre-market trade, ahead of economic data. Data on nonfarm payroll employment, international trade and jobless claims will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. The Markit PMI Services index for June will be released at 9:45 a.m. ET, while the ISM non-manufacturing index for June will be released at 10:00 a.m. ET. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 15 points to 16,914.00, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index futures rose 2 points to 1,969.70. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index climbed 4.75 points to 3,894.50. A Peek Into Global Markets European markets were higher today, with the Spanish Ibex Index rising 0.05%, STOXX Europe 600 Index surging 0.47%. German DAX 30 index rose 0.69%, French CAC 40 Index surged 0.56% and London's FTSE 100 Index gained 0.52%. The euro-zone composite PMI dropped to 52.8 in June versus 53.5 in May. Spain's monthly services PMI slipped to 54.8 in June, versus 55.7 in May. In Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei Stock Average fell 0.14%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 0.08%, China's Shanghai Composite Index surged 0.19% and India's BSE Sensex fell 0.07%. China's official nonmanufacturing PMI dropped to 55.0 in June, versus 55.5 in May. The HSBC China services PMI surged to 53.1 in June versus 50.7 in May. Broker Recommendation Analysts at Oppenheimer upgraded Cree CREE from “market perform” to “outperform.” The target price for Cree is set to $59. Cree's shares closed at $50.31 yesterday.
