Amazon.comAMZN
on Wednesday announced it has entered a multi-year deal to bring award-winning
HBO
shows to its Prime Members. This is the kind of deal that would make
NetflixNFLX
CEO Reed Hastings (and Netflix costumers) jealous. Amazon Prime will soon begin showing all seasons of TV's mos- talked about shows from the past 10 years, including
The Sopranos
,
Boardwalk Empire
,
The Wire
,
Six Feet Under
and many others. Miniseries such as
Band of Brothers

Amazon Prime members will have unlimited streaming access to all seasons of HBO programming as soon as May 21. Other HBO shows such as
Girls
,
The Newsroom
and
VEEP
will become available approximately three years after airing on HBO, according to an
Amazon.com press release. “HBO has produced some of the most groundbreaking, beloved and award-winning shows in television history, with more than 115 Emmys amongst the assortment of shows coming to Prime members next month,” said Brad Beale, Director of Content Acquisition for Amazon. “HBO original content is some of the most-popular across Amazon Instant Video—our customers love watching these shows. Now Prime members can enjoy a collection of great HBO shows on an unlimited basis, at no additional cost to their Prime membership.” Shares of Netflix were trading lower by four percent on Wednesday in the pre-market session, as investors could interpret the agreement as a sign that Netflix's dominance in online video streaming and content acquisition isn't as strong as many had previously assumed.
