Rentrak Corporation (NASDAQ: RENT) today announced the worldwide weekend box office estimates for the weekend of Dec. 22, 2013 as compiled by the company's Box Office Essentials and International Box Office Essentials™ theatrical measurement services.

Rentrak's Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian commented, "Warner Bros.' (NYSE: TWX) 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,' again took the top spot internationally with $96.0m in 56 international markets & $127.5 million for the global weekend including North America.  With a global tally now at $403.8m, the film continues to resonate strongly with Hobbit fans around the globe."
