US stock futures are mostly flat this morning, as investors are awaiting the ADP national employment report and GDP data. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 2 points to 15,495.00 and S&P 500 index futures rose 1 points to 1,685.70. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 0.75 points to 3,086.25.

US stocks closed mixed on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.01% to 15,520.59, the S&P 500 index rising 0.04% to 1,685.96 and the Nasdaq 100 index gaining 0.48% to 3,616.47.

The MBA purchase applications index will be released at 7:00 a.m. ET, while the ADP national employment report for July will be released at 8:15 a.m. ET. Data on GDP growth for the second quarter and the employment cost index for the second quarter will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. The Chicago PMI for July will be released at 9:45 a.m. ET, while the EIA weekly report on petroleum inventories will be released at 10:30 a.m. ET. The FOMC will announce its policy decision at 2:00 p.m. ET.

Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD) reported downbeat second-quarter revenue.

Genworth Financial (NYSE: GNW) reported weaker-than-expected second-quarter results.

Hess (NYSE: HES) is estimated to report its Q2 earnings at $1.41 per share on revenue of $4.62 billion. MasterCard (NYSE: MA) is projected to report its Q2 earnings at $6.30 per share on revenue of $2.00 billion. Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA) is projected to report its Q2 earnings at $0.63 per share on revenue of $16.01 billion. Exelon (NYSE: EXC) is expected to report its Q2 earnings at $0.54 per share on revenue of $6.15 billion.

Southern Company (NYSE: SO) is projected to report its Q2 earnings at $0.68 per share on revenue of $4.30 billion. Hospira (NYSE: HSP) is projected to report its Q2 earnings at $0.51 per share on revenue of $1.03 billion. CBS (NYSE: CBS) is expected to post its Q2 earnings at $0.72 per share on revenue of $3.52 billion. Whole Foods Market (NASDAQ: WFM) is projected to post its Q3 earnings at $0.37 per share on revenue of $3.09 billion.

The Allstate (NYSE: ALL) is estimated to post its Q2 earnings at $0.98 per share on revenue of $7.00 billion. Williams Companies (NYSE: WMB) is projected to post its Q2 earnings at $0.15 per share on revenue of $1.85 billion. Marriott International (NYSE: MAR) is estimated to post its Q2 earnings at $0.57 per share on revenue of $3.21 billion. Con-way (NYSE: CNW) is projected to post its Q2 earnings at $0.59 per share on revenue of $1.45 billion.

European markets were mostly higher today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index rose 0.04%, London's FTSE 100 index gained 0.51%, French CAC 40 Index surged 0.01% and German DAX 30 index rose 0.04%.

Asian markets ended mixed, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average dropping 1.45%, China's Shanghai Composite gaining 0.19% and Australia's ASX/S&P500 rising 0.19%. Hong Kong's Heng Seng Index fell 0.32% and India's Sensex rose 0.02%.
